Marchelle Sellers
Description
Marchelle L. Sellers is the founder of the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House, a home away from home for families of children going through medical treatment nearby. Marchelle served as their Executive Director until 2008, and the house has now served over 19,000 families since opening.
In 2007, Marchelle was awarded Most Inspirational Executive Director of the Year by both the State Assembly and Senator’s offices. She has been a Rotarian for 15 years and is the Past President of the South Pasadena Rotary Club. In 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2020 was awarded Rotarian of the Year. She is a past commissioner for the City of Pasadena’s Accessibility & Disability Commission and is a current member of an Advisory Committee of Shriners Medical Center in Pasadena. Eight years ago, THE Magazine recognized Marchelle as one of the Top 50 Women in the San Gabriel Valley and seven years ago Marchelle was awarded the Top Nonprofit Executive by Los Angeles Business Journal.
Marchelle studied Public Policy & Management at the University of Southern California and received her MBA from Ashford University. She regularly speaks on executive leadership panels and has presented in front of hundreds of groups, also appearing on most major news stations, radio and local/nation print media.
After leading Burbank-based Mending Kids International, a global children’s surgical charity operating in 63 countries, where she created 4 new surgery programs and raised $40 million, Marchelle and her business partner, Kathy Selders, launched Charity On Top to further expand their love and support for charities and charitable work everywhere. Their gift cards are used regularly by notable Fortune 500 companies including Vanguard, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Sony, the NFL and more. Marchelle also consults for other nonprofit organizations needing interim leadership and financial management or change management. She and Kathy also meet with companies and groups looking to expand their interests in social responsibility and help lift up current events and social impact needs.
Marchelle is the mother of two sons, 17-year old Graham and Reese. Her son Reese was born very premature and was challenged with many disabilities. He is now in heaven and is the absolute inspiration behind everything she does and the fully-accessible park in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl is aptly named “Reese’s Retreat” in his memory.
